Carroll was one of my best friends in high school and we attended ETSU together where we were roommates. I have so many memories of our friendship. In high school I will never forget all the times he gave me a ride to school in that Fairmount green Dodge Charger with his favorite band, Chicago, playing on the 8-track. I also will never forget the hours upon hours we spent shooting pool at Red's pool hall which was located in what used to be the gym of the old YMCA. In college I will never forget the hours we spent just hanging in the dorm listening to tunes and playing cards and who could forget all the trips for dinner at "The White House", a greasy spoon that was located just behing McCord dorm. It had the best burgers and fries around. It seems just like yesterday that Carroll, Dwight Shankel and I were walking across campus back to our dorm after spending hours "pulling" cards for class (this was back in the day of manual registration and before computers) when Carroll made the comment, just think we only have 15 more quarters (ETSU was on the quarter system then) to go. Now here it is  41 years later and Carroll is gone. RIP my friend.
