Reunion festivities are all set to kick off in five days and there are currently 36 classmates officially registered. If you haven't registered and are planning to come please do so in the next few days as we need to give our food vendors a head count. Also as a reminder Dennis Pierce's Thursday night gathering on Boone Lake is a covered dish and so far the following items are being provided:

Just a little under two weeks to go till the reunion with only 29 classmates officially registered. We were hoping to at least equal our 2003 reunion count which was 40. If you know you are coming to one of the events but just haven't taken the time to do so please do so in the next few days. Below are the driving directions to the Saturday banquet to be held at the Virginian. Also remember to send an E-mail to 10sguru@meta-web.org with 2 or 3 requests of your favorite songs from our school days that you would like to hear played on the computer juke box that will be setup at all three events.
From the Bristol Country Club on Old Jonesboro Road travel northeast approximately 1 mile till you come to a slight left hand turn at Goose Pimple Junction and the Tennessee/Virginia state line which becomes Route 649. Travel approximately .4 mile till you come to a stop sign. Make a right on King Mill Pike/Route 647. Travel approximately 1.5 miles and you will see the entrance to The Virginian on the left and turn left onto Virginia Trail. Proceed past the guard shack approximately .6 mile turning left onto Clubhouse Ridge which will take you to the main entrance.

The "Big Event" is only 19 days away and so far only 24 classmates have registered for the reunion. We have talked to several of you recently who have indicated that your decision to come may have to be made at the last minute. Consequently we have decided that in order to ensure the opportunity for maximum participation the deadline to register has been moved to Wednesday, September 14 which means that you can bring your payment when you "walk in". One thing to remember with this new deadline is that the block of rooms that we have reserved at the local motels with the reduced rates will have expired by then so you will be on your own for reservations.

On line registration for the reunion is now available. Details can be found under the 40 Year Reunion info link on the Main Navigation Pane to the left of the web page, second link just under the picture of JFK. Two important dates to keep in mind are September 2 which is the last day to receive payment and September 13 which is the last day to cancel and receive a refund if you have already paid and it turns out you won't be able to attend. If you have contact with classmates please help us spread the word about the reunion so we can have a good turn out.

AGENDA
On Thursday, September 15, Dennis Pierce will be hosting a covered dish get together at his home on Boone Lake, 380 Crussell Road, Piney Flats, Tennessee beginning at 6:00 P.M. for local classmates as well as any out of town classmates (spouses/significant others optional) that may be arriving early.
On Friday September 16 a classmate’s (spouses/significant others optional) social will be held at the Southeast Culinary & Hospitality College http://www.southeastculinary.edu/ located in the former Bristol Virginia Post Office at 100 Piedmont Avenue in Bristol, Virginia24201 beginning at 6:00 P.M.
On Saturday September 17 the Reunion Banquet will be held at The Virginian http://www.thevirginian.com/home/index.html located at 22512 Clubhouse Ridge in Bristol, Virginia24202 with registration and welcoming cocktail reception hour beginning at 6:00 P.M. with the banquet dinner to follow.
FEES
Thursday Night Pierce covered dish gathering on BooneLake – No charge.
Friday Classmates Social – No charge if attending the Saturday night Banquet otherwise $10 per classmate/guest.
Saturday Reunion Banquet - $35 per person also includes the Friday Classmate's social.

The Reunion Committee (Debbie Foster, Nancy Godsey, Theda Rutherford, Clare Snyder and Jimmy Flannagan) began the initial planning for our 40th reunion tonite (thanks to Nancy Godsey for being such a good hostess and the brownies were delicious). Good progress was made as we were able to select four potential dates for the reunion. Consequently a Reunion Date Survey has been created on the main navigation pane which is located in the top left hand corner of the web page just beneath the Viking "T" logo. We are asking each classmate that is interested in attending to make the appropriate selections from the four dates in order of preference. This is very important as the results from this survey will determine which date is ultimately selected. Also note that the fourth date, September 16-17 coincides with the popular Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion musical festival which will add additional entertainment value to the reunion lasting from the early morning to late at night. The Reunion Committee will be getting together in the next couple of weeks to begin planning for our 40th class reunion. If you have any suggestions as to the time of year you would most likely attend be sure to let us know. Welcome to the new Tennessee High Class Of 1971 website. Many of you are familiar with our old website which we have been using since 2003 when we held the THS Class of '71 turns 50 reunion. Unfortunately EZReunions.com, the company which provided the hosting service has discontinued support for the site.
As a result we have selected classcreator.com as our new website hosting company and we think everyone will find the new site to be much more dynamic/feature rich and user friendly. We are still under construction as we familiarize ourselves with all the different features to determine what additional content to add but in the meantime we have setup the basics such as what you see now.
We are currently in the process of adding classmate names beginning with those who are currently members of the Tennessee High Class of '71 group on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=263727428313) and who were in the graduating class. There are a total of about 240 classmates to be added so please be patient and check back often for further updates.
